A few obsessions at once
For a few weeks I’d been deep in 270 gsm blank shirts, the heavy boxy kind, and the graphic tees from Woodbird. At the same time I couldn’t stop generating things in Midjourney. The third ingredient was a pricing idea I’d been turning over: one-of-one shirts, each new edition $50 dearer than the last, so the archive gets more expensive as it empties.
None of those wanted to be three separate things. So I made them one.
The archive that was never stocked
JAUNE is a luxury fashion archive for clothes that were never made. Every piece is a sealed 1/1 edition, the price climbs with each sale, and the homepage greets you with “Worn once by no one.” The designs are Midjourney plates I actually love. I built it quietly in Astro and Tailwind, gave it a real domain, and made it look like a real pop-up.
Nothing on it is buyable. That was the whole point.
Nobody noticed, including me a bit
I showed it to strangers, friends, family. Every single one thought it was a real brand. A few asked how to buy, then got visibly let down when I admitted there was nothing to ship. Literally nobody clocked it as fake.
Honestly, I wish it were real too. I love these shirts, and I’ll probably end up commissioning a couple of them for myself. The experiment was meant to test whether the fiction would hold.
