Shape-Hugging Shadows
Compare the two Apple marks and look at the space around the bite and leaf. box-shadow follows the square image box, while drop-shadow follows the visible shape.
filter: drop-shadow is useful for logos, stickers, transparent illustrations, and cut-out artwork where a rectangular shadow makes the object look pasted onto the wrong surface.
